Our Uneventful Update

Besides the fact that mom lost our camera battery charger (geez mom), you probably wouldn't want to see what has been happening here anyway...wondering what we're talking about? Well, we came down with quite the nasty flu (or so the 'rents thought) over the last couple weeks. First we just had a cough, then our noses started running and we couldn't stop sneezing. Then the ultimate worry factor: fevers. Mom just thought we would get over it with some rest and lots of liquids (and and the occasional bribing of bananas, fruit bars, and strawberries; anything to get us to eat, none of which we did...). We watched the ten Baby Einsteins mom got from the Library and just vegged on the couch all day, moaning and taking lots of little naps.

Luckily, mom's mommy instinct kicked-in Friday morning and she took us to the doctor. They were very concerned and after three hours and a trip to the building next to where we were born for some X-rays, they said we had Pneumonia! Yikes! Don't worry though, we got some medicine that makes us smell funny, and a loud machine that spews out mist while mom and dad force us to breathe it in. We are doing 100% better the last couple days and can't wait to get out and into more mischeif!

Thanks for your prayers! Love, Jake and Drew

Happy Birthday NANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!! It's Nana's birthday!! We just wanted to give a shout out to a wonderful Grandma without which all of this could not be possible:

  • mommy avoiding a sleep-deprived meltdown by volunteering the night feedings for us for a weekend (yep, all 3 of them...11 pm..2 am..5am...hehehe)
  • Super yummy milk due to all the awesome breakfasts from mom's favorite breakfast place (mmm..pan au chocolat...)
  • Rico our favorite screaming parrot avoiding death by starvation thanks to the pick-ups of his prissy organic bird food
  • Preventing mom and dad from an ugly divorce and custody battle (we'd pick mom ;) by allowing countless visits including respite, date nights, bottle-feedings, and diaper changes!
  • Letting mom pursue her love of teaching the cool older kids and bringing home some extra bacon!
  • The redundant cleaning of not only the microwave (mom saves it for you! shhh!), stove, toaster oven, and sometimes the fridge, but unloading and [trying ;)] to load the dishwasher, and folding and washing countless loads of laundry!! yikes!
  • And most importantly, our special relationship with you created by the hundreds of hours of quality time, energy, and play!
The three hour round-trip drive makes it all the more meaningful!!

Here are some pics so we can all reminisce...

Thanks for taking care of me those first couple hours while mom was all doped up...

We spiked your tea...

You were there for our very first bath! Ahh memories...

Aww, don't we all look so happy?!

Holy geez!!! I'm giant!!! where does the time go??? (sigh)

Thanks so much Nana! We love you! And oh yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Milky Weekend Fun!!

Ok...so no disrespect to MLK, but mom and dad told us it was MLK day Monday, and that looks pretty darn close to milk..mmmm...anyway we're celebrating by eating food from Georgia (yay Auntie Suzanne!) ..well, kinda, I guess BBQ chicken sandwiches are semi-Southern..anyway we love you Dr. King and appreciate all you've done to inspire us so far...and we hope it's a proud day for you tomorrow; we know we're excited for the inauguration!!

So we cruised up to Escondido to meet Grandpa Bill and Grammie Peg, had a scrumtrulescent lunch, then moseyed over to the Wild Animal Park, our first time!! We pet the deer, saw an ity-bity baby rhino (awww!!!) and enjoyed some yummy ice-cream with our duck/goose/?? new friends. (I think they liked the ice-cream more than us). We watched some gorillas, mom helped us feed some ducks, and then she got crapped on by a Lorikeet (yes, her face made a nice target...). It was positively wonderful (especially because we enjoyed the day for FREE!! A HUGE Thank You to Grammie Peg! ..we all know mommy loves the word FREE!!).

Daddy makes good duck noises

We were more interested in playing in the dirt...

The "geese" like ice-cream...Grandpa!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the Lorikeets who pooed on mom...

Awwwwwwwwwww!!! Only three weeks old!!!!!!!

Monday daddy had the day off so we headed to the beach for some babe-watching. Jake thought it was fun to walk in the tracks of the Lifeguard truck (for like a quarter mile), while I took it upon myself to make mom's arms useful. Ahh, no wonder I weigh more. I love being carried.

Lots of love, Andrew (currently aka "Gus Gus")

Merry Christmas!!!!

Sorry we couldn't think of a more original title...we're a bit tired from running around this year. We started our adventure at 4:40 am Christmas Eve morning, driving seven hours to Grammie Jan and Papa Daryl's house. Lots of fun, presents, and a giant tee-pee contraption later, we settled down to a wonderful Christmas dinner. Before we headed off to Grandpa Pat's, we went sledding in freeze-your-boogers temperatures. We thought it was not-so-much fun, but mom and dad had a blast...so then we drove the four hours down the hill to Lorrie and Grandpa Pat's house in Paso Robles. We played some Guitar Hero, checked out the thousands of snowmen who were just dying to be played with (much to the dismay of everyone except us), and had some super yummy quiche. We had some delish pizza in Cambria, checked out the Christmas lights in beautiful historic downtown Paso, and visited with "Uncle" Mark. It was faaabulous. Can't wait to celebrate Jesus' birthday next year...when we actually have some concept of what that means...

Doesn't it look like it snowed?! We were soooo hoping...but we received a generous amount of hail which almost looked like a light dusting...

This stuff is amazing!! We can't figure out why we haven't been able to play with this before!!!

Notice our snazzy Christmas outfits!! Dressed to the nines!!

Yo Yo!! Check out my way cool Christmas pj's!! Thanks Aunt Sarah!!

You may recall seeing dad pushing me on this bike when we were only 4 months old! Almost a year later we can pretty much drive it around ourselves!!

Oooohhhh...presents.........

Don't we all just look wonderful?! Except maybe both of us, who noticed something more interesting on either side of the gathering...

Images captured by mum on our way up the mountain to go sledding. It was sooo beautiful!!!!!
Posted by Picasa

Daddy and me, dressed in a hodgepodge of eclectic finds; the purple mittens were found in desperation hours before we went sledding...the only saving grace was our adorable beanies we received for Christmas from our wonderful Auntie Naomi...

I was not amused.......

Forcing a smile so we can leave!!!

One big happy (and COLD) family!!

Unkie Brett and daddy zipped us up into their jackets...hehe they're weird..

Then we cruised over to Auntie Kym and Uncle Guy's house for some extra-exciting fun...the special trip around the block in Brooke's Barbie car was by far our fave part...

This pic includes about half the attendants...mom was really random in her picture taking, I think by the last get-together she was sick of taking pics!!!

Aunt Kym's sexy undies...ohh la la!! Hehe given by her secret Santa..she asked for a Victoria Secret gift card so not only did she receive that, she scored some super cute VS granny panties as well...YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!

LOOK! She liked them so much she decided to sport them the rest of the evening. If you look closely you will notice this gem of a find is from the VS "HIGH RISE COLLECTION"...oh, if only we had received such an amazing present...

The highlight of our trip...our awesome cousin Brooke took us for a drive. We soooo want this car!!!

So that was that! Thanks, family for inviting us to our FOUR Christmases!! We had so much fun!!!

Mommy's Marathon Tuesday!!

So...Mom had this bright idea to take us to the Reuben H Fleet
science museum at Balboa Park. They have free Tuesdays the
first Tuesday of each month. We were there before it opened
and enjoying ourselves with about five other kids, but by
the time we left there were hundreds of people crammed in
there! All in all we had a great time...playing with the grocery
carts and the conveyor belt, the xylophone, a phone booth, in a
climbing house...the place was great! Mommy got only ucky
pictures though, because the lighting was so bad, so you can
view our experience in the collage at the bottom. My favorite
pic is this one, which was one of the few that turned out well
that morning:

Then mom decided to take us along for the trip to the Del
Mar Post Office, which happens to be within walking
distance to the beach and our favorite cliff-top
ocean-overlooking park! We had a looooooooong day but it
was a blast and mom got some great pics! Enjoy!
